Unveiling the Top 10 Most Evil Pokemon Villains

What are the worst Pokemon villains? The answer, as it turns out, is unclear. Every region seems to have at least one wicked team trying to steal Pokemon or destroy the world with uncontrollable power. Building a criminal empire in the name of Team Dastardly And Despicable Thing is easy, apparently.

The world of Pokemon has decided to gamify everything, even international scandals like the CIA-assisted Crack epidemic of the 1980s and the 9/11 terrorist attacks of 2001. The villains range from petty thugs to militant corporations. They can exploit those weaker than them, subjugate those who believe in justice, and generally be power-mad narcissists. Who are the worst of the Pokemon villains? These are the dregs.

Team Yell

Team Yell is a bunch of Poke-hooligans who cheer on your rival, Marnie. She has a vendetta against you because her relatives were murdered by the Drascoy, a legendary Pokemon belonging to one of the members of Team Yell, Baily.

Team Star

Not even Team Rocket gets a pass, and yet, Marnie’s gang of Poke-dudes get their own Wikipedia page.

Team Snagem

Before Lysandre Snagem and his merry band of merchandisers ruined everyone’s Christmases with their for-profit Pokemon capture-and-training service and nearly destroyed the world, they were a forgettable group of thieves stealing Pokemon.

Team Break

Remember when Niantic made that Pokemon game that barely worked on your phone but which was run by team of masked thieves who stole Pokemon? Happened in 2016.

Team Skull

Team Skull are one of the basic teams, simple thugs enforcing instruction on the townsfolk of Alola. Led by the charismatic Guzma and Plumeria, a whole host of Team Skull members have joined the team, seemingly left with no other options in their lives. They’re dismal.

The Miss Fortune Sisters

What happens when you’re the boss of a crime syndicate and your annoying sisters decide to step into your industry? They get booted from the running and become bandits, of course. This was the case for Amy and Vivian, previously known as Team Miss Fortune, now self-proclaimed rulers of the Mega-Sc Midwest.

Amy and Vivian originally belonged to Team Arceus, a group who made it their mission to find the god of Pokemon, Arceus. After their leader, Fiona, turned on Amy and tried to rob her of her Key of Arceus, Amy struck back and led the sisters on a life of crime. They were grief-stricken, vengeful, and hopeless. Their ambitions to turn the Midwest into their own secret empire soon became a reality as they traveled through Sinnoh, Johto, and Hoenn, relying on their criminal expertise at every turn.

Team Aqua and Team Magma

Another pair of former teams who, they insist, have the best interests of the people at heart. It was misguided, of course, but at least Aqua and Magma did not turn to full-blown terrorism to get their way. For example, Team Cipher, very much not a team, mind, turned its Pokemon into Shadow Pokemon.

The Aether Foundation

Your dad is the head of the Aether Foundation, a charitable organization that takes care of Pokemon and runs shelters across Alola to find and care for the Ultra Beasts. Great, right? Wrong. Your dad, Lillie’s father, is obsessed with the Ultra Beasts and willing to cut every corner to find and catch them with your help. The Aether Foundation is brought down not by vicious criminal activity, but by incompetence and corruption at the very highest level.

Team Flare

Team Flare are a bunch of goofy fashionistas with a morbidly ridiculous plan to eradicate all life. No, this is not a parody article, this is what we were faced with in Pokemon X and Y. Team Flare wants to use the ultimate weapon, the Xerigear, to lift up the whole of Lumiose City, drive it into another dimension, and escape to start anew.

You can tell they’re stupider than even Team Rocket’s schemes because they go ahead and voice it to you, unprepared and unaware of how stupid such a plan sounds. Thankfully, this whole debacle was documented in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon.

Team Cipher

The original evil team, the Cipher were ruthless criminals whose ultimate goal was not world domination or monetary gains, but rather to turn your Pokemon against you. Cipher was a Mega Manie.
