Silver foxes are one of many elusive animals you may encounter while roaming the open world of Red Dead Redemption 2. Endlessly chasing these creatures down can grow tiresome, especially as you scour what seems to be every inch of the map. To make things easier on you, here’s where to find the silver fox, what activities they’re involved in, and how to get a pelt to make better gear.
How to find the silver fox in Red Dead Redemption 2
You can only hunt silver foxes at night, so if you see a pile of their dung during the day, they’re likely fast asleep. These animals’ activity zones are among the trees between Mount Shann and Grizzlies West, but we don’t want to give too precise of a location as to not spoil the surprise.
Silver foxes are quite small, so you won’t be able to see them from far away. Also, because you hunt them at night, it’s highly likely that your visibility will be low; we recommend increasing visibilty via the reinspector if you struggle to spot the creatures.
How to get a silver fox pelt
Silver foxes are incredibly skittish creatures, so you need to sneak up on them to catch one alive. You can’t just scare them out of hiding; you need to trick them by tossing out a squirrel bait or raw fish and slowly making your way towards them. If you manage to get within range, toss a noose around their neck and hogtie to them up to claim your reward.
Silver foxes are quite small, so you don’t need a huge furs cape. You can sell their pelt, or hunt multiple foxes until you get a perfect one, which you can preserve or use to craft the Silver Fox Vest. This item boosts stamina regeneration, allowing you to engage in long chases over long distances.
Is the Silver Fox legendary?
There are several types of legendary animals in Red Dead Redemption 2; legendary beavers, boars, and more. Silver foxes are formidable creatures, but are they legendary? No, even though silver foxes are very difficult to hunt down, they aren’t incredibly powerful or larger than normal.
