A Red Dead Redemption Remaster Disappoints Fans, Raises Concerns About Rockstar’s Practices
A Red Dead Redemption Remaster has left some Rockstar fans frustrated, with the GTA and Red Dead Redemption 2 studio called out for its “anti-consumer practices” and players expressing anger at the lack of a PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption 2. While the FPS is enjoying a positive reception, with many returning to Red Dead Redemption 1 for the first time, others are criticising Rockstar, and the way in which the remaster and RDR2 sequel have been handled.
A user on the Resetera forums writes, “Opinion: Red Dead Redemption Remaster Disappoints Fans, Raises Concerns About Rockstar’s Practices,” and expresses their frustration at being granted early access to the “new” Red Dead Redemption, due to having the original version of the game on their Steam account.
“This game is nothing but a cash grab,” they write. “I’m not even mad at the fact that I have to play this game just because I bought the original, I’m pretty upset at Rockstar for pulling this.”
The comment is met with mixed responses, with many users criticising Rockstar and defending the public’s negative reaction to the remaster. “I don’t think people are upset because of the game itself but the fact that Rockstar is once again doing something anti-consumer,” writes one user. “The GTA Trilogy Remake was arguably worse, but people forgot about it.”
“The Trilogy Remake shows that most people are casual and they will still pay for these games,” another replies.
