Starting a Family in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
Are you wondering how to have a baby in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town? In this farming game, there's more to running the perfect farm than simply growing the best produce. If you're in a committed relationship, you can even start a family. Here's everything you need to know about starting a family, from the necessary requirements to each cutscene with your child.
Getting Married
In order to have a child in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, you must first get married. To get married, you need to raise your Friendship Level with your desired marriage candidate. Increasing your Friendship Level is as simple as speaking to them and giving them gifts daily. There are ten marriage candidates available in the game, and there are no restrictions based on gender.
Having a Baby
After reaching a Friendship Gauge of at least five hearts with your marriage candidate, you can get married. Once married, the Friendship Gauge will increase by an additional five hearts, totaling 15 hearts. It doesn't matter which marriage candidate you choose, as they will all have children with you if you reach the 15-heart requirement. Increasing your Friendship Level with your partner after marriage will further increase your Friendship Gauge by five additional hearts, totaling 20 hearts overall.
After reaching your intended Friendship Level with your spouse, your Friendship Gauge with them will continue to increase by five additional hearts every 30 days, up to a maximum of 15 hearts. This will allow you to view Heart Scenes regarding your child. It doesn't matter if you marry a man and a woman or any other combination of characters, as any pair of characters is capable of having children.
At 10.5-11 hearts, a cutscene will take place at your house the morning after, where you and your partner discuss the gender of your child. The gender of your child is determined based on your choice in this cutscene. If you choose not to have a preference, the gender will be randomly chosen. Similar cutscenes will occur at 11.5-12, 12.5-13, and 13.5-14 hearts. Once you reach 15 hearts, a random cutscene will occur after meeting specific requirements, which are the same as those required for the first Heart Scene at 15 hearts.
In this cutscene, an Earth Sprite will deliver your baby to you. The baby's features, such as hair color and eye color, will be a combination of your character and your partner's features. You will have the opportunity to choose the name of your child, but it can't be changed later.
The baby will start as a little baby in your home. After 30 days, the baby becomes a toddler and crawls around your house. At 76 days, the baby takes its first steps. When the baby reaches 96 days, it becomes a young child and will eat dinner with you and wander around Olive Town during the day.
The child will not contribute to farm work and will wander around your farm and Olive Town. They may also appear in other players' towns as a tourist. You can interact with your child, but you cannot give them gifts, and they will not appear in the Resident Information tab in the menu.
If you change your mind about having a child, you can delete them by resetting your family status at the shrine in the north of Olive Town. However, this action will also reset your relationship with your spouse to the way it was before you confessed to them in the sixth heart scene.
That's everything you need to know about starting a family in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Once your child is born, you can continue playing as usual, with the exception of family-oriented cutscenes.
