The rare Pokemon Carbink is coming to Pokemon Go

Plenty of new Pokemon game updates and special events have been keeping the pocket monsters game interesting for the last year, with Carbink set to make its debut in one such limited-time event.

So far, only a handful of Pokemon Go events have been announced for the summer season. Carbink is one of several newly discovered generation IV Pokemon being added to the game on a rotating basis as part of the Pokemon Go Fest series. As such, you can expect Carbink to be up for grabs at some point during the inaugural Pokemon Go Fest in June. That said, if you’re desperate for your hands on this Rock/Fairy Pokemon right now, here’s how to catch Carbink in Pokemon Go.

How to catch Carbink in Pokemon Go

Since Carbink has only just made its way into the game, it will probably take some time for trainers to learn how to find the newly added Pokemon in the wild. So far, Carbink sightings have been few and far between, and no specific method to increase your chances at finding the Jewel Pokemon has been announced.

However, Carbink should start appearing in 10km eggs, meaning it shouldn’t be too difficult to hatch the Pokemon and add it to your Pokedex. Just be sure to use multiple tracking method to increase your odds at stumbling upon it while you’re out on the hunt.

If you’re eager to add Carbink to your team now, there are a few ways to acquire the Pokemon today, but you’ll likely have to rely on hatching or trades. Since Carbink is being introduced as part of a confirmed event, it’s likely to be part of an ongoing event that will see the Pokemon spawn in the wild. As such, you should keep an eye out while exploring the world, particularly in areas confirmed to be holding pre-announced regional event Pokemon.

If Carbink is indeed launching with the Pokemon Go Fest this summer, don’t forget to bring your best raids team of strong Grass-type Pokemon to give Carbink a beating. We all know what happens when Pokemon Go’s precious Jewel Pokemon gets damaged – they flee for their lives.

Will Shiny Carbink be possible in Pokemon Go?

Given Carbink’s new shiny variant, it makes sense to wonder if you’ll have the opportunity to add one of the sparkle-less Pokemon to your collection. Unfortunately, the odds of encountering a shiny Pokemon out in the wild are typically quite low, leaving us wondering if such a variant will ever make its way into the game.

If Carbink’s shiny is available in Pokemon Go, it’s likely it will appear rainbow colored to give it a unique color palette. Shiny variants of Pokemon typically feature unique designs to set them apart from their regular counterparts, though Carbink’s original sprite  doesn’t appear to feature much in the way of color – sparkles notwithstanding. That said, it wouldn’t be impossible for the Pokemon’s shiny variant to come in shades of blue or purple, for example.

No matter how you get your hands on Carbink, make sure to put the Pokemon to good use by adding it to your Pokedex and preparing it for battle. The shiny Pokemon is sure to make an excellent addition to your team given its unique typing as a Rock/Fairy Pokemon. The Pokemon’s moveset includes Rock Throw and Power Gem, providing it with a decent range of offensive capabilities.

And that’s how to get Carbink. Once you’ve caught the Pokemon, don’t stop your work out in the wild. With Carbink finally in the game, it’s time to get to work on catching the rest of the regional event Pokemon Gyms earmarked for 2019. Including the new legendary Pokemon that will be released later this year. A complete Pokedex will take some time to build but is well worth the hard work once complete, so make sure you’re ready to trade with friends to complete your ultimate collection.
