How to Play Kingdom Eighties
Kingdom Eighties follows the same gameplay mechanics as previous entries in the Kingdom series, making it easy for veterans to jump right in. New players will also find the game's tutorial helpful in getting started. The primary objective of Kingdom Eighties is to establish basic necessities and gradually expand your borders, rather than immediately exploring the world beyond your camp. As you progress, you'll need to manage your coins, deal with increasing difficulty, and complete objectives.
To begin, recruit nearby kids and equip them with hammers and bows. Use orange traffic cones to build walls and expand your territory. Chop down trees to earn money and claim new territory. However, be cautious not to venture too far from your camp. It's essential to turn around and return once you spot a Portal while scouting beyond your borders to avoid being caught off guard.
You can interact with buildings and chore areas only if they're behind an established wall. Clear areas near traffic cones allow you to build walls, provided there are no obstacles in the way.
As the days pass, the Greed become tougher, so it's crucial to complete your goals quickly, even if they aren't immediately clear. Keep an eye on the objectives to avoid being scammed.
Coins are the primary resource in Kingdom Eighties. You'll need them for offense, defense, and every non-movement action. While it's wise to be thrifty, there are always opportunities to spend coins on valuable rewards. Be mindful of hoarding too many coins, as your sack may overflow and cause coins to spill into the water. However, losing coins this way can earn you an achievement.
Boosting is a key component of Kingdom Eighties. It allows you to move faster, but be careful not to exhaust yourself, especially in dangerous areas like near portals or outside your camp at night. Throughout the game, you'll find different vehicles with varying speeds and boost abilities. Each vehicle has its own animation to indicate when stamina is running low.
Moving around during the daytime is safer since enemies are active at night. You can track the day/night cycle by observing the sun and moon's movement from left to right. When the sun reaches the right side, it's nighttime. Conversely, if the moon reaches the right side, it's daytime. However, be cautious in forested areas where this may be harder to see.
A red moon or an eclipsed sun with red skies indicates strong enemies or attacks during an objective. When Wiz joins your crew, you gain access to powerful defensive towers that can be built on stepladders found on the map. Tinker can upgrade these towers with scrap armor.
Upgrading your main building allows you to specialize your towers into long-range sniper or mortar towers. If you change your mind, you can always revert them back to their default state.
