Confirmed Mortal Kombat 11 Roster
Mortal Kombat 11’s confirmed roster includes all the playable characters, with all the reveals so far leading up to the launch of the fighting game. With the roster divided between main characters and Kameo fighters, we break down which characters are playable and who you can summon to assist in battle.
A New World Begins
A new world begins with Mortal Kombat 1, a reboot of the series after the events of the previous game, led by Fire God Liu Kang. The roster is divided into main characters and Kameo fighters, allies that can be chosen to assist in battles.
The Confirmed Roster
The confirmed roster so far includes:
Smoke: A fan-favorite character, returns with a new look and his signature smoke bomb and teleportation abilities. He’s aligned with Liu Kang from the start and is one of the first characters players meet in the game.
Rain: Known for his purple rain and ninja-like appearance, now wields a staff to control water. He has a complicated relationship with the Lin Kuei and was last seen being recruited by the organisation.
Hanzo Hasashi, also known as Scorpion: He is back and as brutal as ever with his Kusarigama weapon. There are hints of a new connection with Sub-Zero, which we’ll explain below.
Sub-Zero: The iconic duo, both return as playable characters. Like Scorpion, Sub-Zero is aligned with Liu Kang from the start.
Liu Kang: Now a Fire God, takes on the role of Earthrealm’s protector and is recruiting fighters for an upcoming tournament. His abilities are also significantly upgraded, with him harnessing the power of fire.
Raiden: Now a young mortal monk, possesses lightning powers. While he has been a playable character in the past, he is only a main roster character this time around. He appears arrogant, and it will be interesting to see if he becomes less so throughout the story.
Kung Lao: Returns as a classic fighter. In some of the gameplay trailers, he is sometimes seen without his signature hat, but he can be played as both a main character and a Kameo fighter.
Sonya Blade: Part of the Special Forces, is a Kameo fighter with her classic outfit. She brings back classic Fatalities and is a good choice for those who want to play as a female character.
Kano: With his unholy spin attacks, and Jax, despite his missing arms, both return as Kameo fighters with their classic looks. They may not be as powerful as the main characters, but they are still fun to play as.
Goro: A powerful character, is briefly seen in the trailers as a Kameo fighter. Hopefully, he’ll have more presence in the game, especially since the last game ended with him being revived.
Curtis Stryker: In his white and blue outfit, makes a Klassic return. He briefly appears in the gameplay trailer and is a good choice for those who want to play as a male cop.
Shang Tsung: A core villain, is available to those who pre-order the game. It’s unclear if this will be sold separately later on, but it’s a good incentive for players to pre-order.
Frost: Sub-Zero’s apprentice, returns as a Kameo fighter, allowing players to utilize her cold powers regardless of the character they choose.
That’s the confirmed Mortal Kombat 11 roster so far. We expect to see more characters revealed in the coming months, especially since some of the above characters are only available as DLC.
