To start the quest, players must talk to Mirri Elendis, a Bosmer archer outside Doomvault Vulpinaz in Blackwood. Mirri explains that she and a group of hunters were hired to explore a ruin, which turned out to be a Daedric ruin infested with soul shriven. Players must work with Mirri to rescue her fellow companions and put an end to the Daedra threat. Shattered and Scattered Quest Choices
The order in which players destroy the crystals powering the Soul Siphon Array dictates whether or not one of Mirri's companions, Eolaf, lives or dies. Saving Eolaf is not necessary to complete the quest, but it may lead to a more favorable outcome.
The first choice players must make is to grapple up to a cliff and destroy the large crystal before the small one in front of Eolaf. Mirri reveals that Xigira, the woman who hired her fellow hunters, is actually a dremora serving Mehrunes Dagon. After destroying the crystals, Xigira flees, leaving players to pursue her and rescue Mirri's brother Liam.
The next choice is to free Ardia by destroying the crystals holding her in place. As players pursue Xigira, she drops the Writ of Imperial Condemnation she stole from Mirri's body. This reveals Xigira's true identity as a deadran named Velada. Players must fight their way through Daedra to reach her.
Ghalor appears next, another soul shriven companion. This time, players must destroy the Conveyor Prisms pumping his mana into the Soul Siphon Array. By interacting with a lever behind a large rock near the river, players can pull down the prisms. This angers Deejos, a quagli, who players must fight.
After the fight, Mirri reveals that Xigira was working for the Prince of Destruction, Mehrunes Dagon. Players must continue to confront Xigira about Liam, who she holds captive in the Soul Siphon Array. Mirri tries to convince Xigira that Liam could have influenced her in a different way, but Xigira is not interested in letting any Daedric influence the boy.
To progress further, players must remove the seal on the gate by pulling three levers. They must also engage and defeat the Conveyor Guardian in the area. By pulling the lever on the platform and jumping up to the next platform, players can continue on their journey.
Players must then defeat the Anulim Guardian and retrieve the lockbox key at the end of the path. The key can be found by jumping off the cliff, taking the rock path, and talking to the Altmer named Millenaire, who locked it. After obtaining the key, players should return to the altar and grab a prism by interacting with the base. This prism can be used to defeat the Anulim Guardian permanently.
Finally, players must fight their way through some angry Daedra, destroy the Soul Siphon Array, and free Liam. Regardless of the choices made, players will complete the quest, receive gold, and gain some XP. In addition, Mirri becomes a summonable companion, and players learn an ability called Sharp-Eyed Archer.
