So the user owns an Xbox Series X|S and wants to know what the best RPG games currently available to their console are? Well, that’s a lot easier to answer than one may think. In truth, there are many RPGs on the Microsoft console; most of them are good, too. That said, one will have trouble finding those objectively great RPG picks amongst the mire of mediocrity.
Thankfully, the user has us, and we’ve done the very subjective labour of narrowing down the best RPG games on Xbox and then genre and story. Based on what one wants out of an RPG game, they’ll find the ones for them on this list right now.
Many of the games are popular titles that have great acclaim, and one will end up spending hours on most with those amusing side-quests and extra content that these games insist on including. Luckily, one will be chair-bound, because these RPGs are sure to captivate from start to finish.
Hades
It goes without saying that this literal prison break from the bowels of the Greek underworld is a must-have on the Xbox Series X|S. Taken out of context, Hades is a story about a boy who is hell-bent on escaping his dad’s sprawling mansion. As funny as that reads, one will inevitably find themselves getting attached to Zagreus and his heartfelt pursuit for belonging and family.
Skyrim – Special Edition
One would be a defiler and a debaser if this game isn’t on top of their must-plays. If one’s never played it before and are an avid fan of open world RPG games, Skyrim is sure to be an absurd and fun experience. One might be in it for the game’s rich lore and have plans to go tomb raiding while bashing the undead within them. They’re likely in it to be an outlaw that kills chickens on sight. They might even be seriously considering this game solely for the memes, and to get firsthand experience of things that don’t make sense such as pick-pocketing people’s clothes from head-to-toe. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter; it’s still fun.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Geralt and Ciri’s entire Adventures across the Continent will make one go through a rollercoaster of emotions. From fighting the never-ending Wild Hunt to hunting monsters, either or both of the game’s protagonists have one hell of an adventure ahead of them. It’s a dark and deadly world that The Witcher games have created, but an unforgettable one at that.
Moonlighter
Moonlighter may look like one’s typical roguelike game that they’d find on Steam, and while it certainly has similarities, it’s definitely more than that.
