The Elder Scrolls 6: A Long-Awaited Sequel

The release date for The Elder Scrolls 6 may be further in the future than fans had hoped. Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently suggested that the highly anticipated sequel to Skyrim might not see the light of day until almost 20 years after its predecessor was released. With such a long wait ahead, fans will surely need some quality Elder Scrolls 6 mods to help pass the time.

Players have been eagerly awaiting an Elder Scrolls 6 announcement for years, with high hopes that Bethesda can match, or even surpass, the high standards set by previous entries in the series, including Skyrim. However, if Spencer's comments are any indication, patience will be required.

During a Federal Trade Commission hearing on the state of video games in 2023, Spencer shared his thoughts on the future of Elder Scrolls, giving a rough idea of the potential release date for Elder Scrolls 6.

"The Elder Scrolls 6, I believe it's several years away still," Spencer revealed. "It's an enormous commitment for those folks, given the success they've had, to just dive into that next one."

Naturally, this news will disappoint fans, including myself, who have been eagerly anticipating the next installment in the popular Elder Scrolls series. With Skyrim having been released back in 2011, a potential Elder Scrolls 6 release date would mark a considerable gap between the games.

It's important to note that Spencer's comment suggests Bethesda is taking its time to ensure a high-quality game that lives up to the expectations of fans and players alike. With the length of time between installments and the focus on other projects like Starfield, it wouldn't be surprising if Elder Scrolls 6 was met with even greater anticipation than Skyrim.

If Bethesda has to wait until 2023 to release Elder Scrolls 6, one can only wonder what they have in store for us. Will it be a standalone sequel like Daggerfall or Morrowind, or a completely new game like Skyrim? The possibilities are exciting, and I can't wait to find out.

Devoting several years to a single project is not uncommon for many developers. However, some players express frustration at the lengthy development cycle, using games like Diablo 3 as an example. Personally, as someone who enjoys playing the current version of Diablo 3, I am willing to wait if it means a great game in the end. I'm sure many gamers would agree that it's worth waiting years for a game that's truly worth their time, even if that game is just Elder Scrolls.

While we wait for more details about The Elder Scrolls 6, we can delve into what we expect from the game's setting, as well as new features and gameplay changes we'd love to see introduced.

Until then, there are plenty of other games to keep us entertained. Check out our lists of the best multiplayer games, the best RPG games, and the best game series to enjoy in the meantime.
