The Radeon RX 7900 GRE

The Radeon RX 7900 GRE is now available in Germany, but only as part of a gaming PC. That’s right – you won’t be able to buy the GPU on its own. Instead, the GPU is exclusively available inside systems from Memory PC, with the recommended prices coming from AMD itself.

The move is a bit surprising, given how the GPU is based on the Navi 31 GPU. Nevertheless, it’s still a good choice for those looking for a mid-range gaming experience, as you’ll be able to get an RX 7900 GRE for around $649.

As for specs, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE packs an impressive 26-46 FP32 TFLOPS compute performance, with a 260W TDP. The GPU has a cut-down memory subsystem, with 64MB of Infinity Cache and 16GB of GDDR6 memory.

This Infinity Cache is a bit smaller than usual and has a reduced bandwidth of 2.25 GB/s. It also has a lower memory bandwidth of 576 MB/s, which will likely impact gaming performance when using more than 8GB of VRAM.

In theory, the performance should be similar to the RX 7900 XT in compute-heavy workloads, but it may lag behind in games and settings that require high memory bandwidth.

Still, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE will be a good choice for those looking to pair it with a display featuring a resolution of 2560x1440 or lower. It’s also good for those who don’t want to go the Nvidia route and spend a ton on the RTX 2080 Ti.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the status of the RX 7900 series from AMD, as the GPU maker published recommended prices for the U.S. The GPU is only available from Memory PC in Germany at the moment, but it’s unclear if it will be sold separately in the region in the future.
