In the latest Noclip documentary, Vampire Survivors creator Luca Galante
In the latest Noclip documentary, we get an inside look at the mind of Vampire Survivors creator Luca Galante. Known for his privacy, Galante chose to be represented by a Dracula puppet, providing only audio interviews for the Noclip documentary. But that didn’t stop it from being a fascinating watch.
As someone who grew up with Commodore 64 and PlayStation, Galante moved to England to pursue a career in the gaming industry. He worked on a number of mobile games, which although stable, didn’t fulfill his creative aspirations. That’s when he started working on a Unity-based RPG before shifting his focus to Vampire Survivors, a lower-stakes and more enjoyable project in Java.
During a hobby project showcase, Galante’s former colleagues were captivated by a prototype of Vampire Survivors, leading to its eventual success. Galante wanted the price of Vampire Survivors to reflect its basic construction and use of asset store sprites, pricing it initially at $3 and later increasing to $5 with added content.
Noclip also reveals interesting details, such as the inspiration behind the “Santa Water” item from Divinity: Original Sin 2. You can watch the full documentary here.
Galante primarily works in Java, with poncle converting his work into Vampire Survivors’ new and advanced engine. As the story continues, we’ll continue to keep you up to date with all the latest news about Vampire Survivors.
