Gangs of MoonFall: A Vampire RPG with Adult Themes
A vampire RPG demo called Gangs of MoonFall has been released, offering players a chance to get a taste of the cyberpunk vampire game. The full game is being crowdfunded, but the demo offers a slice of the gameplay, boasting a top-down, turn-based combat experience with adult themes.
Developed by the creator of wartime ‘erotica’ game Memoirs of a Battle Brothel, Vampire Syndicate is a cyberpunk vampire game with all the hallmarks of an RPG game. In it, you assume the role of a familiar to a vampire, leading a squad of augmented mortals who carry out the undead’s dirty work.
In the demo, you’re given a choice of a few characters, each with their own specialisation, and there’s even a mission where you have to assassinate an ancient vampire. There’s a bit of story, which is told through animated cut-scenes and dialogue, and then you’re given the option of a tutorial, or to dive into the combat immediately.
The combat is described as “rough,” with the devs noting that they’re still working on it. You’re able to skip it if you want to get right to the story, but I’d recommend giving it a try anyway, as that’s where the meat of this cyberpunk vampire game lies.
Vampire Syndicate takes a lot of its cues from vampire games like ‘The Masquerade’ and ‘Shadowrun,’ with a supernatural creatures management group called the Mandate, and an opposing force who are seeking immortality in digital form.
The demo also comes with some sex scenes, presented with 3D models and visual novel-style imagery.
Developer Kain Silas notes that “MoonFall is a dense and dark cyberpunk fantasy,” adding that the game shares “a lot of DNA” with Memoirs of a Battle Brothel.
