20 of the Best PC Games to Get Addicted to in 2023

Looking for a game to get addicted to? There's nothing better than sinking hours into a game by completely no-lifeing it until you beat it or get burnt out. It's a sad sight to see a gamer with their eyes staring at a screen with no sign of life.

So, if you're looking for a game to put in your crosshairs, we have a list of some of the best PC games with some old favourites and new games that have been out for a while now, along with some new releases, for you to get hooked on. Some of these games are so good that it's actually okay to say you spent the entire weekend playing one game, as it's an RPG.

The Trifecta of Factory Automation Games

The trifecta of factory automation games, Factorio, Satisfactory, and Dyson Sphere Program are considered the best of the genre. Factorio is more than just an addiction. It is life. You will start planning your factory layout the moment you drop the game, and then you will dream about it. I have woken up with factories in my mind, and if you have played it you know exactly what I mean.

Satisfactory is a more survival-like and visual version of Factorio. You build factories to harvest materials, which you then use to build more factories. It is extremely satisfying to watch your little factories work, and it is very calming. If you want something a little more fast-paced, then Dyson Sphere Program is the perfect middle ground between the two.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a true addiction but also an amazing game. I could play a few hours at a time and then put it down, but it is so fun that I ended up playing over 100 hours. It's such a fun coop game because you could be fishing on the beach while your partner is deep in the mines gathering materials.

Hades

Hades is brilliant and can be played until Hades 2 comes out. It's a rogue-like like so you will sink a lot of time into it. I could have a few rounds each night, but I ended up playing for about three hours at a time and the game was just enough of a challenge that I would lose a lot.

The Binding of Isaac

The Binding of Isaac is a game that will make you spend a lot of time on it once you get into it. It's a brilliant game, but you have to get into it, which is the hard part. Once you have a few runs under your belt and get to know the enemies and items, it can become an obsession.

Deep Rock Galactic

ROCK AND STONE! Deep Rock Galactic is a very no-lifeable game. It's like a less intense version of Factorio which makes it very enjoyable. You explore mines, fight aliens, and gather minerals. You will end up with a huge base and forget the outside world exists.

Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire is genuinely fun and stays engaging over hundreds of hours. It's like a mix between a roguelike and a card game. The combat feels great and the loot is satisfying. It's definitely one of the best, similar to Hollow Knight.

Dead Cells

Dead Cells is one of the best roguelike games like Hollow Knight. It's a very satisfying game to play and one of the most replayable games out there. The more you play, the better you get, and the more challenging the game gets. That loop is what makes this one of the most addictive roguelike games.

Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3 has been an absolute pleasure. I am still early in my first playthrough, but I felt like I had to include it as it's one of the first games I've felt okay paying the full price for because it's not a bunch of microtransactions, and it's an RPG.

So far, it's like dungeons and dragons but in a video game. The narrator feels like a DM telling a story. I don't want to talk too much about it as I want to keep it to myself, but the experience has been incredible.

For the King

For the King is a fun and easily addicting fantasy turn-based RPG. You're a monarch who was forced out of their kingdom and must recruit an army to take it back. It's honestly one of the first games I've felt okay paying the full price for because it's not a bunch of microtransactions, and it's an RPG.

It's very easy to get into and has great replayability. It's like Risk, but you aren't controlling an army, you're just one person. You have to recruit a team and complete quests to raise money to take back your kingdom. It's very relaxing, as you aren't in a war-zone trying to achieve a goal.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is one of the best tactical games like Commandos.
