Tekken 8 continues to generate buzz ahead of the fighting game tournament EVO, as Bandai Namco teases special plans for the upcoming fighting game. Earlier this year, a roster leak for Tekken 8 surfaced, featuring Kuma, Azucena, Raven, and more. Now, Bandai Namco seems to have accidentally confirmed some of these characters ahead of EVO, potentially validating the earlier leak.

In the wake of Tekken 8’s Closed Network Tests, the first panel at EVO looks at the data gathered from the tests, including character reveals. However, Bandai Namco has now seemingly spoiled the surprise by accidentally revealing the next two characters coming to the game.

First, Bandai Namco Europe accidentally uploaded news about character reveals to its website, including a reveal for Raven on Sunday, and a new character named Azucena on Monday. While the news has since been removed, it was captured by @the_best_mewtiger on Twitter.

A subsequent news article has since been published on the site, revealing Raven as the first character to join the roster. However, this still leaves a second character unaccounted for. In the meantime, we’ve taken a closer look at the leaked character images.

Firstly, the image of Azucena may have implications beyond just Tekken 8, as it aligns with a leaked roster image featuring a character with a flower on their head. While the roster leak has divided fans, the Azucena leak provides additional evidence for the image’s authenticity.

If true, other characters joining the roster include Kuma, Alisa, and a character resembling Cody Rhodes.

Bandai Namco has since corrected the mistake, replacing the news with the following statement: “On Sunday at EVO we will be sharing the next character reveal in the Closed Network Test for Tekken 7. Stay tuned for additional information!”

While it may have spoiled the surprise, the news is still exciting for fans, as Tekken 8 continues to trend on social media.

NAMCO BANDAI Partners has announced that it will be livestreaming the “Fighting Games’ Night” event at the Dragonfly on Monday, July 15. While it is unclear how this fits with the character reveals, it may be used to reveal additional character art or gameplay footage.

The official Tekken Twitter account also teases, “There are special plans for #Tekken7 at #EVO19. If you’re attending, be sure to stop by the NAMCO NIGHTS event!”
