Tekken 8 on Switch rumors

Tekken 8 on Switch rumors are heating up as the prospect of the fighting game coming to the portable Nintendo console sees an official dev comment, alongside a nod to the successful arrival of other fighting games on the system. If Bandai Namco does bring Tekken 8 to the Switch, it’ll undoubtedly please fans and significantly boost the console’s lineup of fighting games.

Official backing and evidence

We’re still some way off any official Tekken 8 news, as the game is still in development and hasn’t been given a release date yet. However, a potential Nintendo Switch version has just received some potential official backing, as well as further evidence from game history.

We’ve already covered the possibility of Tekken 8 coming to Switch in considerable detail, so we won’t go into too much depth here. However, the portable nature of the Nintendo console and its multiplayer capabilities would seemingly make it an ideal platform for fighting games like Tekken.

Bandai Namco hasn’t officially confirmed whether Tekken 8 will be available on Switch, but the company has now responded to a fan question, which you can see below.

While Tekken 7 wasn’t initially released on Switch, Bandai Namco did release a version of Tekken 7 for the console, which is presumably the ‘yes’ answer in the above screenshot. It’s not a confirmation, but it’s the first time we’ve ever seen the company address the prospect of Tekken 8 on Switch, and it’s not a ‘no’ either.

In fact, we’ve already seen Tekken 7 on Switch, so it’s not an impossible move for Bandai Namco. In addition, the success of other fighting games on the Switch – such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – further supports the possibility of Tekken 8 on Nintendo.

Bandai Namco is a company that often releases its popular fighting games on multiple platforms, and it already released Tekken 7 on Switch, so the pieces are beginning to fall into place. We’ll just have to wait and see for that official announcement.
