The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX

The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX debuts in the latest Steam Hardware Survey, but the company’s flagship graphics card only holds 0.17% of the Steam gamer market and shares the same rank as older GTX 950 and GTX 750 cards. That’s not a good look for the latest and greatest from AMD, and it comes at a time when the company’s competitors are dominating the market with their latest RTX 40-series graphics cards.

In fact, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 56 places behind the GeForce RTX 4090, which is the most popular GPU in the survey. It’s also missing from the Steam API pages, which means we can’t see its individual stats, but we do know that Nvidia’s latest has accounted for 3.4% of the total Steam market.

This is nothing new, as Nvidia has dominated the Steam Hardware Survey for years, and AMD’s highest-ranked GPU is the integrated “AMD Radeon Graphics” at position 12. The Radeon RX 580 is the first discrete AMD GPU at position 23, and the company’s future in the top 10 gaming GPUs is uncertain.

Now, this isn’t to say there aren’t any AMD gamers out there, and the company’s Ryzen CPUs have grown in popularity to 33.19% of the Steam user-base. However, there’s still no precise CPU data in the survey, and it likely includes AMD APUs for gaming PCs.
