A new NM-DD1 kit for AMD Ryzen processors
Noctua introduces the NM-DD1 kit, a solution for delidding AMD Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 processors. This 3D-printable kit allows easy installation of Noctua coolers on delidded AMD chips. By removing the integrated heat spreader (IHS) and attaching the cooler directly to the dies, users can experience enhanced cooling for overclocked CPUs. The result is a remarkable reduction in CPU temperatures by 10C – 15C.The benefits of direct die cooling
Direct die cooling offers numerous advantages, including lower fan speeds, reduced noise levels, increased turbo boost frequencies, and improved overclocking potential. Noctua's NM-DD1 kit simplifies the process of using coolers with delidded CPUs, making it accessible to enthusiasts of all levels. The NM-DD1 kit includes spacers and extended custom screws for secure attachment of the cooler brackets. Please note that additional hardware required for delidding must be purchased separately. For optimal cooling performance, the NM-DD1 kit can be combined with Noctua's offset AM5 mounting bars.
Developed in collaboration with renowned overclocker and cooling expert Roman 'Der8auer' Hartung, Noctua CEO Roland Mossig acknowledges the risks associated with delidding and direct die cooling. However, he emphasizes the significant performance gains achieved through this method.
How to get the NM-DD1 kit
The NM-DD1 direct die kit is exclusively available on Noctua's website for €4.90 (excl. VAT). Alternatively, users can 3D print the spacers using STL files from Printables.com. Assembly of the kit requires either four M3x12 screws (for NM-DDS1) or one M4x10 screw (for NM-DDS2).For those interested in delidding their AMD Ryzen CPU, we have a comprehensive guide that covers everything you need to know about the process.
