Assassin's Creed Mirage: Unleash Your Bohemian and Bawdy Side with Dyes and Outfits

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated entries in the franchise to date. Its compelling story, reintroduction of outfit dyes, and the return of the iconic Assassin’s Creed outfit worn by Altair and Ezio have fans buzzing with excitement. In a new developer video, Ubisoft explains more about the new Assassin’s Creed game and some of the exciting features you can expect to see when Mirage launches later this year.

Set just 12 years before the events of Valhalla, Mirage follows Basim’s journey to becoming one of The Hidden Ones and his mission to track down the order in the vibrant city of Baghdad.

In the behind-the-scenes video, artistic director Jean-Luc Sala reveals that players will have a variety of outfit options for Basim, aiming to create a personalized experience for each player. One of the most notable additions is the return of outfit dyes, a fan-favorite feature that has been absent from the series for over a decade.

While not all outfits in Mirage will be dyeable, a range of dark and dusky color options were showcased in the video, giving players plenty of choices to express their individual style. Sala notes that long-time fans may recognize some of the color combinations as they are inspired by outfit combinations worn by Ezio and Altair throughout their respective journeys.

The video also showcased Basim wearing the iconic red and white robes of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, as well as other color combinations, highlighting the versatility of the outfit customization in Mirage.

Concept artist Anika Mercier discussed Basim’s apprentice outfit and the significance of the red sash, confirming that it is the same sash that Basim wears in Valhalla. Mercier explains that the extended development time and the shorter length of Mirage compared to Valhalla have allowed the development team to approach the game with more thoughtfulness and creativity.

New Combat, New Style

The video also dives into Basim’s combat style, revealing that he will have a new style specifically tailored to his character. Ubisoft game director Ziad El Chaar explains that Mirage’s extended development time has allowed the development team to approach combat with more care, resulting in a polished and immersive combat experience.

Despite being a prequel to Valhalla, Mirage is designed to be accessible to new players, with no prior knowledge of the series required to enjoy the game. While long-time fans of the Assassin’s Creed series will certainly appreciate the series’ history and easter eggs scattered throughout Mirage, the linear progression and story-driven nature of the game have been well-received by fans who appreciate a focused narrative experience.

Set against the backdrop of the bustling city of Baghdad, Mirage promises to offer a nostalgic touch for fans of the franchise, as the series’ familiar eagle cry echoes through the streets. With its customizable outfits, reintroduction of outfit dyes, compelling story, and nods to the series’ history, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated entries in the franchise to date.
