Assassin's Creed Mirage and Basim

If you're divided by the teleportation abilities of Basim in Assassin's Creed Mirage, you're already on the right track. Basim possesses a range of familiar skills, such as Eagle Vision, parkour, throwing knives, and smoke bombs. However, a preview of Ubisoft's upcoming game reveals both the return of fan-favorite features and the introduction of new abilities that have caused disagreement among players.

We recently had the chance to witness Assassin's Creed Mirage in Action during Ubisoft's Forward Showcase, where we were treated to a gameplay demonstration. The showcase concluded with a mission that showcased the various abilities of Basim, including a perplexing chain assassination maneuver that has left fans puzzled. Many believed they had a clear understanding of what to expect from Mirage, but it appears that assumption was incorrect.

A heated debate has erupted on the Assassin's Creed subreddit, with one major point of contention being Basim's teleportation ability. Some fans argue that there is an error, while others claim to have the answer, much to the frustration of their counterparts.

One user writes, "Can somebody explain to me how Basim's teleportation works? He suddenly appears behind two enemies without any visible indication of movement. It's as if he teleports, and the camera shakes as though he's shifted position."

Unfortunately, an explanation that satisfies everyone has yet to be provided. Ubisoft's Andrew Wheeler humorously states, "That's Assassin's Creed for you. Sometimes, the Animus fails to keep up with Basim's movements, creating a funny little Easter egg." This explanation can be seen as a bit lackluster.

Another player in the comments offers the equally unsatisfactory explanation of "Animus shenanigans." According to them, "Basim moves so quickly that the Animus struggles to process him."

Diehard fans remain divided despite the explanations. One individual argues, "If you can assassinate through teleportation, stealth becomes pointless."

Another response counters, "To play through a mission undetected, you must carefully plan your movements and be as stealthy as a ghost. Teleportation undermines the effectiveness of distraction tools. It feels like cheating and should not even be an option."

However, some players hold the opposite viewpoint, asserting that Basim's teleportation ability is consistent with the broader series. They point to the magical powers possessed by Ezio, the Eagle vision shared by Altair and Basim, along with abilities like smoke bombs, throwing knives, and teleporting swords used by several assassins throughout the series.

Players are undoubtedly divided on this particular ability, yet Assassin's Creed Mirage already offers a wide range of options to approach each assassination in a style that suits you. With this in mind, opinions vary on whether this ability is even relevant, but it certainly sparks lively conversations.

Regardless of your stance on teleportation, take a moment to appreciate a refreshing departure from the bloated mainline games of the past, as Assassin's Creed Mirage returns to the core values that define the franchise.
