Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gaming Monitor
At its Gamescom press conference, Asus unveiled a range of new gaming products, with the standout being its new ROG Swift OLED monitor. Coming in four sizes and using multiple panel technologies, the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM gaming monitor is quite the departure for the company, but it’s one that looks very promising indeed.
The Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM uses a brand-new Samsung QD-OLED panel that the company claims is brighter than any WOLED technology panel it has ever produced. It boasts a 4K 32-inch pixel count, and produces 1,000 nits peak brightness. That peak brightness is supported by a 240Hz refresh rate and a quick 0.03ms response time, both of which are up there as some of the fastest on the market.
The Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM also includes USB-C with 90W power delivery, DP 1.4 and HDMI, as well as a KVM switch for convenience. Cooling is optimised with a custom heatsink and a graphene pad that covers the entire rear of the panel, eliminating the need for a fan.
Asus says the monitor will be available in early next year, but it’s safe to say it’ll cost a pretty penny. The company also introduced the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDM, a curved 34-inch 1440p ultrawide monitor that uses WOLED technology. It offers a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, shares the 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time of its QD-OLED counterpart, and boasts a matte coating.
The PG34WCDM will be released by the end of the year, but Asus hasn’t yet revealed a price. Based on the PG32UCDM, however, we’d expect it to come in somewhere around $1,300 to $1,400. Lastly, there’s the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD, a 49-inch 32:9 ultrawide monitor that uses the same QD-OLED Samsung panel as its smaller sibling. It has a slower refresh rate of 144Hz and will be available in October, but it’ll cost you a hefty $1,499.
Asus’ OLED lineup is quite diverse, and it’s a trend we’re seeing more and more of as panel technology diversifies. The company previously used LG WOLED panels in its ROG Swift PG27UQ and PG32UQ gaming monitors, but the OLED lineup marks a shift in strategy that sees Asus use both Samsung QD-OLED and LG WOLED panel technologies. They’re all quite pricey, but they offer high pixel density, glossy coatings, and impressive performance.
