Borderlands EchoVision Live: An Interactive Streaming Show
A Borderlands-inspired interactive streaming show is coming from the team behind Silent Hill: Ascension. Genvid Entertainment, the studio behind the interactive movie based on the Konami horror game, is turning to Gearbox’s popular shooters for the next interactive show. Called Borderlands EchoVision Live, the show follows eight tourists on a Vault Hunter “adventure safari” who, through circumstances I’ll leave for viewers to discover, get stranded on the hostile world of Eden-6. The tourists must come together to overcome their fears and avoid bullets in order to find a way home.
Borderlands EchoVision Live, which does not yet have a release date, is being produced in partnership with Gearbox, and will follow Borderlands’ familiar story structure of a group of strangers coming together to complete a mission. However, in this case, the audience will have direct influence over the story and characters, determining how they handle the pressure and relate to each other.
The interactive system is likely to be similar to Silent Hill: Ascension, where viewers have time to watch each episode and cast their votes on character actions. The team says it wants to make the experience lighter-hearted compared to Silent Hill: Ascension’s more grim subject matter.
Silent Hill: Ascension was subject to criticism for its interactive storytelling method, which critics said was too slow and demanding of viewers. However, the team says it has made improvements to its interaction system to make it more accessible.
Borderlands EchoVision Live does not have a release date yet, but it is expected to debut later this year.
In the meantime, check out everything we know about Borderlands 3. You can also try some other interactive shows, like The Tower, which is available through Xbox Game Pass, or the interactive series of The Last Night.
