Cyberpunk 2077 players crave more corporate-focused content

Corpo lifepath players in Cyberpunk 2077 are craving more content centered around the giant corporations. While Cyberpunk 2077’s story is already heavily focused on the mega-corps, the lifepath that explores the inner workings of these organizations feels a bit underdeveloped. Reddit users discuss the absence of Corpo side stories and romance options in the game, and suggest that the lack of human connection is the reason for the scarcity of Corpo-centric missions.

“I haven’t been able to complete a single mission for a single Corpo,” one player writes. “I’ve also never been able to get a mission from a person working for a Corpo.” They continue, “I have found a couple of missions from a Corpo but they were all from either the net or the Central Intelligence Agency (C.I.A.) and they were all about doing some sort of corporate espionage.”

Cyberpunk 2077 does feature some examples of corporations negatively impacting characters. The game’s main protagonist, V, works for a company called Lebedev-Syndicate, which steals and sells the implants of those who can’t afford them. While it’s hinted at in the beginning of the game, there’s little exploration of V’s relationship with Lebedev.

Other players note that they’ve completed a few side quests for corporations, but these missions are available to anyone and don’t feel particularly Corpo-focused. “I have done a couple of Corpo missions, but they were all the same thing: Go here and kill these people,” one player says.

“I’ve never gotten a ‘Corpo-exclusive’ mission,” another user writes. “I’ve done a lot of missions for a lot of people, but never for a Corpo. I’m not sure if this is a problem or not, but that’s the way it is.”

CD Projekt Red has indicated that the upcoming expansion, titled ‘Beyond Cyberpunk’ and launching in late 2021, will conclude V’s story. However, it sounds as though there’s still more to tell in the world of 2077, and perhaps Corpo background could be further explored in a sequel.

“I just hope they don’t do anything like The Witcher 2 and make it a DLC or something,” one player writes. “I really want to know more about the Corpos and the real world, and hopefully that will be in the next installment.”

That said, it sounds as though the expansion will be the only major DLC for the game, so it’s possible there won’t be any Corpo-centric content in Cyberpunk 2077 2. For more on CD Projekt Red’s latest, check out our Cyberpunk 2077 review, or our guide to the Cyberpunk 2077 mantis tattoo codes.
