Battlebit: A Modest Success

Battlebit, a new shooter game developed by NerdSlayer Studios, has sold almost two million copies within its first two weeks of launch. The game, which bears resemblance to the popular Call of Duty series, has garnered both praise and criticism from players.

According to Steamspy, Battlebit has sold a total of 1,971,744 units. Some players have applauded the game for its enjoyable gameplay, lack of live service cosmetics, and affordable price, suggesting that EA should take notes from Battlebit's success. However, others have expressed their disappointment with Battlefield 2042, comparing its reception unfavorably to that of Battlebit.

One user expressed their interest in purchasing Battlebit, but sought information about the game's lifespan and player base. Another user encouraged them to give it a try, acknowledging that it may not reach the level of popularity achieved by Call of Duty 4, but highlighting the significant in-game progression and its attractive price compared to other triple-A titles.

The success of Battlebit has surprised and pleased many players, who believe that the developers deserve recognition after six years of hard work. The game's popularity can be attributed, in part, to its consistent public playtests since January 2022, with an average of 15k players participating every weekend and a peak of 87k players recorded since June 15.

While some players are willing to support Battlebit even if its lifespan is short-lived, others have expressed their discontent with the current state of the Battlefield franchise. Suggestions for the development of Bad Company 3 and improvements to the graphics and art style have been voiced, with players hoping that Battlefield will regain its former glory.

One user expressed their desire for DICE to learn from Battlebit and prioritize gameplay polish over flashy visuals. Others have expressed their disappointment with the reception of Battlefield 2042, stating that they hope the franchise will fare better in the future. Despite the mixed reactions, many players believe that Battlebit deserves the success it has achieved, as it offers a great casual gaming experience.
