Diablo 4 gems, their types, and how to craft them
You’ll find gems almost everywhere in Diablo 4, so it’s good to know the types available, what they do, and how to craft higher-quality versions.

One of the main ways you can grow your power as a Demon Hunter, Barbarian, or Sorcerer is by socketing gems into gear. You won’t find a gem artisan in the Rogue caravans though, so you’ll need to find gems while you’re dungeon-delving and adding them to your favorite gear. But how do you get them, what do they do, and how do you craft even more powerful versions? Here’s everything you need to know about Diablo 4 gems.
Different Diablo 4 gems
The different types of Diablo 4 gems are:
First things first, hold on to those Crude and Chipped gems while you’re leveling up. You’ll need them to craft better versions of themselves later on.

The jeweler is essential in knowing how to craft gems, add sockets to gear, remove gems from gear that you no longer need, and if you upgrade rings and amulets as well, improving their stat boosts and affixes.

If you’re unlucky enough to try and salvage gear with a gem inserted, the gem will be lost permanently, so be sure to know how to remove gems from gear.
When you reach level 20, the jeweler will have basic tabs for each of the above options, but as you increase in level and understand them more, they’ll fill up with more options.
Diablo 4 gem bonuses
Each type of gem offers three different bonuses, but will only be active depending on the gear it’s socketed into. The bonus of each type of gem will increase as you craft better-quality gems.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that even flawless gems can be crafted, though you won’t start finding them until about halfway through the campaign once you reach level 60.
