Healing Potions in Diablo 4

Healing Potions are an essential mechanic in Diablo 4, providing vital combat-based healing items for your survival and crucial until you have a complete build. Understanding how these potions work and finding ways to increase their capacity and power will significantly benefit your gameplay.

Healing Potions can spawn in combat encounters and initially, you can only carry a limited number of them. However, there are methods to enhance both the capacity and power of these crucial healing items.

Increasing Potion Capacity

You can expand your Healing Potion capacity by reaching Level Two Renown in each of the five zones. Upon achieving this, you will gain one extra charge per zone, resulting in a total of nine charges. Unlike previous Diablo games, you can now level up your Renown while in a zone, allowing for quicker progression and obtaining the additional charges.

The best way to level up your Renown is by engaging in high-value activities. Clearing a Stronghold rewards you with 100 Renown per clear, and random dungeons in the open world grant 50 Renown each. Additionally, logging in to the game during a weekend doubles your Renown level. However, you can still attain the level threshold required for the potion upgrade without this bonus Renown.

It is important to note that the potion capacity upgrades are account-bound, automatically activating for all your other characters on your Battle Net account. This account-wide benefit provides increased durability for all your characters within the massively multiplayer game.

Upgrading Potion Power

To enhance the power of your Healing Potions, visit the Alchemist NPC. Once you have the required Renown level, you will receive a prompt to speak with the NPC upon entering the zone. While the Healing Potion Upgrading Priority Quest is technically optional, speaking with the NPC is necessary to gain knowledge on how to upgrade potions. Completing this step as soon as possible is highly recommended.

The Alchemist that can provide various potion upgrades is Veroka in Kyovashad. Each upgrade requires specific herbs as ingredients and costs a set amount of gold, with the cost increasing with each level. However, you will only be able to purchase all the upgrades once you reach level 10. Healing Potions can only be upgraded once every ten levels, except at level 45.

For these upgrades, you will need different herbs, ranging from common ones like Gallowvine to rare ones like Fiend Rose. Collecting the zone-specific herbs might seem challenging, but the Alchemists offer ways to refine your herbs, making it easier to meet their requirements.

The first Refine option allows you to convert one herb into ten Refined herbs at a cost of 25 gold, ensuring you have enough herbs to meet multiple upgrade requirements. Alternatively, the second Refine option costs 100 gold and provides three Refined herbs, sufficient to cover the cost of any upgrade without having to repeat the first upgrade multiple times.
