Are you stuck on the Diablo 4 Pilgrim’s Footsteps quest? It can be difficult to crack this riddle, but we’re here to help. The Pilgrim’s Footsteps are one of the main Diablo 4 endgame activities, so you’ll want to be able to unlock Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides in order to get yourself some Legendary or Unique gear.
The Diablo 4 Pilgrim’s Footsteps quest sends you on a journey across Northern Kehjistan, onto the cliffs and beaches in the very south of the map. The riddle-based puzzle can be found in hell torn regions, and it starts with a rather non-descript quest marker, which leads to an Old Book in some sandy ruins. Read on to discover how to complete the Pilgrim’s Footsteps riddle.
How to solve the Diablo 4 Pilgrim’s Footsteps riddle
The quest marker leads you to an Old Book in some sandy ruins, but it’s the plaque by the book that’s important. It reads: “Walk the road of faith to a lone desert chapel. Stand at Acarat’s feet, follow his example, and be rewarded.”
Now, here’s where things get a little tricky, primarily because the quest marker still leads you to the desert chapel. Thing is, contrary to the Old Book’s directions, the chapel isn’t actually at this location. Instead, it’s some way to the north-east of the chapel, on the roof of the Tomb of the Saints dungeon.
Once you reach the chapel, you’ll see a fairly straightforward landscape consisting of a small settlement and a burial site. There’s a statue of a bearded man holding a book, surrounded by stone sarcophagi. The thing is, nothing in the emote wheel aside from ‘surrender’ looks remotely like ‘follow’.
Check out the flora straight ahead of the kneeling man, just behind the sarcophagus. It’s a curiously placed tree that’s far out of the way, so you may have overlooked it thus far. Anyway, use the follow emote – which can be found in the left hand wheel – and a chest will appear. Open it to complete the quest, getting a sum of XP along the way.
That’s how to solve the Pilgrim’s Footsteps riddle. The Diablo 4 Pilgrim’s Footsteps quest may require some detective work to crack, but it’s still one of the easier riddles in the endgame. Regardless, the XP reward isn’t anything to balk at and can unlock the Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides in order to scavenge rare items and legendary sets.
