Looking for details on the Diablo 4 season 1 battle pass? The Diablo 4 season 1 patch is set to launch on July 20, bringing with it the season’s quests, seasonal mechanics, and the first battle pass in the RPG game, offering both free and premium tiers.
Diablo 4 Season 1: Season of the Malignant
Diablo 4 season 1 is called the “Season of the Malignant” and introduces cursed hearts called “Malignant Hearts” that players can slot into gem slots for powerful builds. The update also brings a new questline, more seasonal mechanics, and the first battle pass in Diablo 4, with both free and premium tiers.
Diablo 4 Season 1 Start Date
Season 1 begins on July 20, along with the release of the battle pass and its 90 tiers of rewards. A pre-season patch will be deployed on July 18 to prepare for the update.
Diablo 4 Season 1 Content
A festering curse has infected Sanctuary, turning enemies and humans into bloodthirsty fiends, and introducing new “Malignant” items. Players can embark on a new side story questline led by a character named Cormund, which takes place after the main Diablo 4 story.
If you’ve already completed the campaign, you can skip it with your seasonal character and jump right into the new content.
Gameplay and gear changes will be implemented on the seasonal realm, including the retention of fog of war, renown, and unlocked Altars of Lilith when transitioning from an eternal realm character.
You will also be able to access Season 1 content without having to create a new character on the seasonal realm. Unlike previous Diablo games, the Diablo 4 team says “seasons will not provide additional activities for our existing max-level characters”, meaning you won’t be able to complete the new season-specific activities with your existing high-level character.
Diablo 4 Season Length
Blizzard has said that Diablo 4 will have four seasons per year, each lasting around three months. Season 1 won’t end until October or November, and you’ll retain your Season 1 character, which will be transferred to the eternal realm as a regular character once the season ends.
Diablo 4 Battle Pass Rewards
The first battle pass in Diablo 4 consists of 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers, with the premium track costing 1,000 Platinum.
Free tiers unlock cosmetic items and Smoldering Ashes, while premium tiers unlock cosmetic items and Platinum, the game’s real money currency.
You can earn battle pass tiers by progressing in the “Season Journey” and slaying monsters with your seasonal character. Our battle pass guide has everything you need to know about how to navigate the system.
