The Diablo 4 Hidden Camp
The Diablo 3 Hidden Camp returns in Diablo 4 as a reference to the main hub for Act 2 of Diablo 3’s Main Campaign, serving as a nostalgic trip for players who went on the Sanctuary Trail in the previous game in the RPG game series. But what could it mean for the future of Diablo 4?
Location and Purpose
The Diablo 4 Hidden Camp is located in Kehjistan, the Diablo 4 Act Five region and where the final Diablo 4 Elder Treant Protector boss can be found. It serves little purpose for traveling players looking for a place to rest up and grab some lore-related conversations with NPCs, other than as a nostalgic trip down memory lane for fans of Diablo 3’s Sanctuary Trail – that’s assuming you didn’t burn it to the ground.
If you have access to Act 6 of Diablo 4’s Main Campaign, you can visit the Hidden Camp. In its current state, the camp is a charred field, large mounds of earth have collapsed and avalanched into the caves, and insects have taken the opportunity to make it their home – a perfect metaphor for the state of Sanctuary following Diablo 3.
Due to the changes, the area is much smaller than the one found in Diablo 3, and offers few places to explore. The Healing Well located here is the only source of healing in the camp, and you can see the outline of the Waypoint from Diablo 3 partially buried in the sand. The locked chest from Diablo 3 is also still there, but sits unopened and serves no purpose in Diablo 4.
The Forgotten Overlook
The Forgotten Overlook is just that – a camp that has been forgotten by the world. The only traces of NPCs are the ghost of the Blacksmith, who appears here as a memory or vision, and the Altar of Lilith, which is sunken under wooden boards right next to the Healing Well.
If you have what it takes in the endgame to reach the level cap of Diablo 4, I recommend going back to The Forgotten Overlook to complete the Derelict Tunnel Cellar, located beneath the camp. Winning its boss fight awards you with the Diablo 4 Legendary Staff of the Remnant, one of the new legendary weapons you can expect for reaching the highest level.
