Diablo 4 Season 2 Launch and Crowd Control Nerfs
Diablo 4's next update aims to reduce monsters' ability to control players, nerfing crowd control effects throughout the action RPG game. Blizzard's developers have focused on this alongside balance changes to address various cold-enchanted elites, Cold Spiders, Cold Goatmen, and chilling winds, making their effects less frequent or less powerful. Slows and stuns will also receive shorter durations or more easily avoidable animations.
"We're making adjustments to crowd control effects to keep them powerful but also less frustrating," Blizzard says. "These changes will help you have more recovery time after taking crowd control effects and will give you more power overall." Some of these changes were tested on the public test realm, but are now rolling out to the main game with the 2.1.1 update.
The upcoming Diablo 4 Season 2 is undoubtedly one of the biggest reasons to play the Blizzard game right now, but the developers have been working on balancing and adding quality-of-life improvements to the base game as well.
The upcoming update also includes improvements to menus, with consistent sorting of item affixes and better navigation of the glyph menu using a controller. Achievements can now be transferred between platforms, and there are additional options for customizing the background of the main menu.
Full List of Changes and Bug Fixes
Diablo 4 patch 2.1.1 arrives on May 6, with the full list of changes and bug fixes available on Blizzard's Diablo 4 website. This update is a precursor to the highly anticipated launch of Diablo 4 Season 2 in October, which sees the introduction of a vampire-themed Season of Blood to the game.
Players will be joining vampire hunter Erys in hunting down a powerful vampire lord, obtaining vampiric powers for their characters and increasingly challenging battles against hordes of vampires. Season 2 will also bring significant quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to farm specific unique items, carrying over certain unlocks, more efficient inventory management, and stash filters.
New and returning bosses will also be introduced, and players who are ready to jump back in can read our full Diablo 4 Season 2 preview to get a sense of what to expect when the update releases.
