Easily Find Specific Items on the Ground in Diablo 4
Looking for specific items on the ground is always a challenge in Diablo 4. While you can always use the auction house to buy specific gear and items, you're going to find yourself hunting for gear drops on the ground a lot. Whether it's a specific weapon drop from one of the game's many bosses or just some crafting materials, you're going to be picking up a lot of stuff.
Finding specific items on the ground in Diablo 4 can be tricky due to the game's default display settings. The game relies on materials, gold, gems, and gear for character progression, but if you can't even see them on the ground, it's going to be hard to pick them up. Thankfully, you can adjust settings to make finding items on the ground easier.
Show Item Labels in Diablo 4
The default key binding for showing item labels is Alt on keyboard and L2 on controller, so if you're having trouble finding drops, try pressing this key. This will show the names of everything on the ground for 10 seconds, but it can be a bit finicky and doesn't always highlight things in the way you might expect.
Luckily, you can change the way item labels are displayed by heading to the settings and toggling the Item Label Display setting to Push to Toggle (On/Off). This will cause item names to always be shown, but it won't highlight anything that isn't an item.
Unfortunately, not every interactable object can be highlighted. This includes things like tree stumps, rocks, or quest objects. The only way to highlight these non-item interactables is by hovering over them with your cursor, which is a bit of a pain.
If you want to change highlight settings for non-interactable things like other players or NPCs, navigate to the settings and look for the Highlight Other Players setting. By default, this is set to Don't Highlight, but you can toggle the option to display highlights and change highlight colors.
This setting is especially useful for colorblind players, as you can select any color from a color picker.
That's how to make finding items on the ground in Diablo 4 easier. In a game that relies so heavily on materials, gold, gems, and gear for character progression, managing inventory and items is a big part of the gameplay loop. While it can be annoying to have to adjust your settings every time you search for a specific item, it's better than having to check the auction house every time you die.
