A user who goes by the name “Super_Trash_Sale_Seller” on Reddit shares the story of their parents’ collection of their childhood gaming stuff that was acquired from garage sales. Many users express admiration for the user’s parents for keeping their belongings, but other users share stories of their own parents selling or throwing away their gaming stuff.
The user mentions that their mom is sentimental and they have mixed feelings about some of the items, while the in-laws threw away bins of Legos that belonged to the user. Some users celebrate the discovery of the game “URBAN STRIKE,” exclaiming “Jackpot” in response, while another notices the SNES in the picture and hopes the user has plenty of games to go with it.
“My parents have kept almost everything I’ve sold since I was a kid. They are sentimental people and I’m glad they kept all my stuff,” the user writes. “But they also kept stuff they bought at garage sales, too.”
This is the first time in years I’ve seen this stuff and I was in shock,” the user continues. “I’m so happy to have all this back, it’s like a part of my childhood.”
The user confirms that there is a box of SNES and NES games that they forgot to show in the picture, and expresses enthusiasm for the game “Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga.”
“I found this at my parents’ house. I had a lot of games,” the user writes, estimating the value of their Pokémon collection to be in the thousands, including cards, games, and other Nintendo items. “I think I still have a box of games somewhere but I didn’t even remember I had this.”
Another user says, “I was the same, I sold everything I had as a kid, but I wish I never did that.” Another says, “I sold everything, too. But I wish I kept my Gamecube and some games, especially my copy of Wind Waker.”
Another says, “Same, I sold all my stuff when I left for the army. My mom sold everything while I was away.” Another says, “I wish I kept my Game Boy, a bunch of games, and the box and manual for my N64.”
“I’ve always been the guy that kept my boxes in pristine condition, despite getting weird looks from others,” another comments. “I’m glad you kept your boxes, too.”
“I was always the kid who still had all my stuff,” another comments. “On the other hand, my parents threw out all my old Transformers, TMNT, and Voltron stuff… I’m glad I kept all my old stuff, but I’m still sad they threw it away.”
