This is the correct order to watch every movie and Disney+ show in the MCU in chronological order:

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most polarizing and record-setting cinematic universes to ever take shape. From the first time we watched Tony Stark create an iron suit in a cave to now seeing the final member of the Avengers make her debut, it’s been quite the journey.

From Captain America’s long-awaited arrival in the present day to the Guardians of the Galaxy’s rag-tag, unlikely group saving, well, the galaxy, we’ve seen it all. It’s due to this ever-expanding universe that we’re here to help you find the correct order to watch every movie and Disney+ show. We’ve also got a list of all the upcoming MCU movies, so you’ll know what’s on the horizon.

Initially starting in the present day, the vast majority of Captain America: The First Avenger takes place in 1942 when the United States entered the Second World War. It’s also worth noting that while Universal’s The Incredible Hulk is canon to the MCU, it doesn’t feature the same version of the character as the rest of the films.

While it’s easy to miss, the introduction of Marvel’s second captain didn’t occur until 2019 with the release of Captain Marvel. Set in the mid-1990s, the movie sees a scrawny, yet determined young man who wants nothing more than to fight Nazis finally get his chance. The introduction of Marvel’s second captain however, wouldn’t come until nearly a decade later with the release of Captain Marvel.

Despite a change in lead actor, Iron Man quickly established itself as a premier origin story – and one of the MCU’s best films overall. Tony Stark’s journey back to heroism following his captivity by Obadiah Stane was a crucial moment in the universe’s creation. It also brought along the introduction of the final member of the Avengers, Natasha Romanoff.

Following the Battle of New York, Steve Rogers took a position working directly with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury. The first film in the MCU that introduced heroes unfamiliar to most people: the Guardians of the Galaxy. A rag-tag, unlikely group consisting of fugitives and thieves, this movie finally put Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to the test.

The return of Tony Stark brought along the introduction of the final member of the Avengers, Natasha Romanoff. Tony Stark’s buddy Colonel James Rhodey, who took to the skies as War Machine, was also introduced. While the second Iron Man movie is often criticized for being too bloated, it still brought key plot points to the table that would ultimately come into play in Phase Three.

Thor is the last of the Avengers trinity is finally introduced. The culmination of Marvel’s early building blocks resulted in Earth’s Mightiest Heroes finally assembling. After successfully saving Midgard from his brother Loki, Thor returns to Asgard with the captured god for him to stand trial. The dark elf Malekith, thought to have been destroyed eons ago by Odin’s father Bor, has emerged from the depths of the universe to exact his revenge on Asgard and the other Nine Realms.
