I want to see a hidden gem game make a comeback. Maybe it’s not the biggest or best-looking game, but it’s still got a special place in your heart. Maybe it’s a cult classic or a game that was criminally overlooked.

So which games do you want to see make a comeback? We’re talking games that perhaps didn’t sell well on release, but that you still love and would like to see revived. It could be a game that deserves more attention and love from the masses. It could be a game that you feel is criminally underrated, a game that was released too late in its respective console’s lifespan, or a game that should have been bigger than it was.

Maybe it’s a game that deserves a comeback. We’ve already talked about all the potential PS4 games that deserve more attention, so why not extend that to other platforms? So, what do you think? Which hidden gem games do you miss? Here’s a small selection of games that people have mentioned:

Def Jam

“A violent Mario Kart with double dash and guns.” That’s the idea behind a Def Jam return, according to the user. They mention that it could be like 187 Ride or Die remastered with modern graphics and gameplay. We’ve seen this before with Def Jam Icon, which didn’t go down well with fans, so we’ll need a new approach.

The Warriors

Of course, we all want to see a new Warriors game. The problem is that the last one wasn’t very good. The Warriors game was nowhere near the movie experience, but I would love to see Rockstar tackle it because it deserves a better-looking treatment than what we got.

Onimusha

Onimusha was a series that I enjoyed from the very beginning, right up until the second game. Then they started making multiplayer-based Onimusha games, but I would love to see the series return to its single-player roots.

Strike

I loved the Strike series. The third game was a bit of a mess, but that doesn’t take away from the potential of the franchise. There are so many different areas and eras that it could be set in, and I’d love to see a new game come out, especially with the recent success of Call of Duty Black Ops.

Mark of Kri

I loved this game. I’ve already seen a spiritual successor in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but I would love to see the original Mark of Kri return. There are some cool mechanics in there, and it deserves a shot on modern consoles with a bit more polish.

Timesplitters

I feel like every shooter fan has a soft spot for Timesplitters, a series that has been sorely missed. There hasn’t been a shooter like it since, and I would love to see it make a comeback either as a reboot or a return to the original games.

XIII

I was so desperate to hear what happened after XIII that I looked up the entire script on YouTube. Needless to say, I’d love to see a remake of this game, or at least a proper sequel.

Vigilante 8

This is a series that deserves some love. It’s not just a Twisted Metal clone, it has its own charm and personality. I’d love to see the Mercs from the upcoming Insomniac Games’ game make an appearance in a potential new Vigilante 8 game.

Champions of Norrath

Champions of Norrath is one of my favourite series. The first game was a fantastic Diablo clone, but the second and third ones were okay as well. I’d love to see an HD Collection of the first two games with more multiplayer modes and a bigger world.

Mercenaries 2

Mercenaries 2 is another one of those games that I loved from the moment I played it. It was a bit of a mess in some places, but it was a lot of fun. I would love to see a potential sequel and hear Abel’s side of the story.

Freedom Fighters

I loved the original Freedom Fighters games, but the remake didn’t really live up to the originals. I’d love to see a new Freedom Fighters game that takes everything that was great about the originals and gives it a modern coat of paint.

SSX

I’ve always been a big fan of SSX, and I was so excited when they announced a new game. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t the same. I would love to see a new SSX that brings the excitement back to the series.

Alundra

Alundra is a game that I played with my dad when I was a kid. I didn’t understand a lot of it, but I loved it anyway. I’ve heard there’s a remake out for PS4, but I’ve never tried it.

Mercenaries

Mercenaries is another game that I played with my dad. We loved the story, the open-world, and the vehicles.
