Disney Illusion Island first boss fight

Want to know more about the Disney Illusion Island bosses? As you progress through the world, you’ll encounter several bosses. Our early impressions of the game praised its boss encounters, and we highlight some of them in our main review.

So far, we’ve fought against pirates, a giant golem, and now, a mechanized thief. The thief’s name is Thief #1 because they stole the Tome of Engineering. They also have a strange British-sounding accent, which makes it difficult to take them seriously. Nonetheless, you’ll have to put your platforming abilities to the test to overcome the puzzles and obstacles at hand.

Unlike most platforming games, you won’t be directly attacking the boss. Instead, you’ll trigger items to fall on them by jumping on switches. Thief #1 can be difficult, but with patience and precise jumping, you should be able to clear the first phase.

The first phase of the Disney Illusion Island boss encounter has three parts, with a new layout for phase two.

In part one, you need to jump on switches to drop capsules on the boss’s head. There are six switches split between the left and right sides of the boss.

The mechanics are simple. Use the Wall Jump Ability to reach the platforms and jump on the switches. There are no hazards in this part, so focus on timing your jumps.

Part two adds spiked batteries and shuriken-like projectiles to avoid while hitting the switches. There’s not much to say here other than be mindful of your surroundings and prioritize hitting the switches.

Part three introduces more hazards. You’ll need to Wall Jump onto a series of conveyor belts. The layout for the second phase is significantly different as the first platform is a conveyor belt.

There are spiked magnets and shurikens to avoid while hitting the switches. It’s the same strategy as parts one and two, but the layout is different, requiring more precise jumps.

Thief #1 drops a lot of heavy objects, so clearing the first phase reveals a new layout for the second phase. The second phase has three parts as well, each increasing in difficulty.

Part one involves spiked magnets and shurikens to avoid while hitting the switches. The strategy is the same as parts one and two, but there are two shurikens to avoid as well.

Part two is similar to part one, with spiked magnets and shurikens to avoid while hitting the switches. The only difference is that two shurikens are in the same spot.

Part three is the most challenging. You’ll need to hit eight switches, which periodically retract into the wall. This is where the difficulty ramps up as there are conveyor belts, spiked magnets, and descending shurikens.

Take your time, be patient, and time your jumps carefully. Start by Wall Jumping onto the conveyor belts and prioritize the upper-most switches. Repeat the process on the other side to defeat the boss.

That’s everything you need to know about the first boss in Disney Illusion Island. For more tips and tricks, check out our guides to all the collectibles, how to get the best upgrades, and how to clear the hardest challenges.
