TMNT Shredder's Revenge Dimension Shellshock DLC

Remember the good ol’ days of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge? We do too. It’s a beloved beat-’em-up game that rivals Turtles in Time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that there’s new content on the way. Tribute Games has shed light on the forthcoming DLC, Dimension Shellshock, which will introduce a new game mode, playable characters, and customizable turtle skins.

In an interview with lead game designer Frederic Gemus, we learn more about the forthcoming Dimension Shellshock. As Gemus puts it, “Dimension Shellshock is not just a set of new levels, it’s a brand new game mode filled with new content.”

Gemus explains that he was heavily inspired by Turtles in Time, which is widely regarded for its unique and surprising locations. Dimension Shellshock aims to provide a new and exciting gameplay experience outside of the base game.

“We wanted to go to some very surprising and unexpected places,” Gemus shares. “There will be plenty of inter-dimensional settings and we’ll be paying homage to the TMNT universe.”

Gemus also confirms that fan-favorite character Usagi Yojimbo will be playable in Dimension Shellshock. “We’ve had a lot of fun with him in the studio,” Gemus shares. “He’s a very fun character to play with and has a very unique playstyle.”

Usagi’s appearances in the ‘80s show and other TMNT iterations made him a natural choice for the DLC. He’s also a fan favorite, in part due to his signature weapon – a Samurai Sword. Gemus remarks that Usagi is “a very aerial fighter,” explaining that he “focuses on keeping enemies airborne.” He’s the only character with a double-jump ability, and he can perform his full combo string in the air.

In fact, not only did Tribute Games keep Casey Jones as a secret, but they also kept Usagi a secret too. We’re impressed.

Dimension Shellshock Release Date

The release date for Dimension Shellshock is set for later this year. It’s uncertain whether or not it will release in the same window as the next movie, but we’ll keep you updated as more information is made available.

Gemus also hints that there may be further expansions or surprises in store for Shredder’s Revenge, saying, “I won’t tell you everything we have in store, but there might be further expansions or surprises in store for TMNT: SRS” – we can’t wait to see what’s next.
