Best Elden Ring bows

Looking for the best Elden Ring Bows and Ashes of War? The best bows in Elden Ring may not be as powerful as the best weapons in Dark Souls or Sekiro, but they still have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. Ashes of War are the key to unlocking these abilities, and the selection is relatively limited, but the cool tricks you can pull off are worth the effort.

If you’re searching for the best bows in Elden Ring, chances are you need more help with the RPG game’s hardest bosses. We also have a list of the best Elden Ring armor if you need more ways to avoid damage from the enemies you’re hunting.

These are the best Ashes of War for Light Bows, Bows, and Great Bows:

  • Sky Shot
  • Enchanted Shot
  • Through and Through
  • Mighty Shot
  • Rain of Arrows
  • Barrage

Sky Shot

This is a niche skill that lets you fire an arrow high into the air, then have the arrow land behind an enemy or target to hit them from behind a wall or other obstacle. It can also be used to land headshots on bosses or real players.

Enchanted Shot

Enchanted Shot deals more damage than a regular shot, but it has a few drawbacks. The most obvious is that the arrow doesn’t follow the moving enemy very well, so it may be difficult to land the shot even against stationary opponents. The damage boost may not be worth the hassle, but you can always switch back to Mighty Shot if you need it.

Through and Through

This skill launches a powerful shot that will penetrate multiple enemies, but it’s only available for Greatbows. The only real opportunity to use it is against crowds of enemies, which are plentiful in the Tower of Treason but few and far between elsewhere. It’s a good finisher for bosses, but that’s about it.

Mighty Shot

The default skill for most bows, Mighty Shot offers a stronger version of a regular shot. The shot travels further and builds up more status, potentially staggering or poisoning the target. It’s a good skill to have equipped as you can use it as needed rather than switching between multiple Ashes of War.

Rain of Arrows

Rain of Arrows is one of the best Ashes of War because it allows multiple arrows to rain down on the target. This deals impressive damage and can inflict heavy status effects, but it’s a pain to get. You can use a Painting Puzzle to get the skill in Nightmare Mode, but it requires you to complete all of the Painted World of Ariandel before you can even enter the Forbidden Lands. Considering how much trouble you can get into in the first areas, it’s a bit unfair to lock this up.

Barrage

Barrage is the innate skill of the Black Bow (obviously) and some of the Light Bows. It fires multiple arrows rapidly, dealing high damage and applying status effects quickly. It’s a good skill for general purposes, especially against moving opponents. You should have a Barrage bow by the time you get to the Tower of Treason, but if you don’t, the Teardrop Scarab in Mt. Gelmir will give you one if you give it the correct item.
