The T-45 Power Armor set is your standard everyman’s power armour. It’s not the best, but you can pick it up relatively early in the game by following the main questline. The T-45 set is pretty much a go-to in any playthrough, but its rewards can be increased by adding the two expansions to the armour. The T-45 Set gives you immunity to Radiation, reduces the power armour movement speed penalty by 15%, increases strength by two, and increases armor.
You can find the T-45 Set in the Park Avenue Power Armour Warehouse. Complete the quest “Boston After Dark” to receive the full set of T-45 Power Armour.
The Tesla Armor is a unique set of Power Armour that sometimes gets overlooked. It consists of a torso and two arm pieces, giving you some of the strongest protection you can get outside of fully modded T-60 or X-01 sets. The Exemplar’s T-60 Power Armor Torso reduces every VATS cost by ten percent, ensuring you have a much lower chance of missing attacks as you’re focusing on enemies. You can complete the “Duty Or Dishonor” mission for The Brotherhood Of Steel by delivering Alton’s holotape to Kai in Goodneighbor after talking to Blake, completing this quest and earning Exemplar’s T-60 Power Armour Torso.
