Fallout 4: Vault 95's Disturbing Secrets

One of Fallout 4's most disturbing locations is home to an experiment so terrible, it felt like a punch to the gut when it was discovered.

Fallout 4 is a post-apocalyptic open-world game where violence and chems are the norm. However, Vault 95 still manages to horrify even the most seasoned players. Unlike the drug dens and raider camps, the vaults were meant to be a safe haven for humanity. That is, until Vault-Tec decided to conduct horrifying experiments.

Vault-Tec, a pre-war privatised company, was responsible for designing and managing a network of subterranean vaults to protect humanity from nuclear fallout. However, after the bombs dropped, the company became a mercenary organization that conducted unethical military experiments. The vaults became home to genetically modified monsters. Here are some of the disturbing things witnessed in the vaults.

The Addiction Rehabilitation Program

Vault 95's main focus was addiction rehabilitation. It was set up to help pre-war addicts let go of their dependencies and become active members of a supportive community. However, this program was a sham orchestrated by Vault-Tec. A fellow addict, who was actually a Vault-Tec agent, secretly distributed drugs to the residents, worsening their addiction.

As players explore Vault 95, they are greeted by a haunting sight. The corridors once walked during the game's prologue are now filled with the corpses of the vault's former residents. Drug paraphernalia, alcohol, and stolen weapons litter the hallways.

In the fission generator area, players encounter not only more bodies, but also monstrous creatures. Slumped on tables are the shell-shocked residents, surrounded by despair and hopelessness.

Rooms of Desolation

The meeting room, once a place for addicts to share their stories and support each other, is now in ruins. The chairs are overturned on the ground, and the walls are adorned with raider decorations. In one corner of the room, a baby bottle serves as a poignant reminder of the young addicts who once resided here.

Vault 95's storytelling through its environment is a testament to Fallout's power. Although players can continue exploring and completing quests in the vault, the sadness that emanates from these empty homes is hard to shake. Vault-Tec's true purpose was not to help, but to play God, causing unimaginable casualties in the process.
