Final Fantasy 7 Remake confirms the reason why Aerith can seemingly see into the future

The Square Enix team behind the game has answered a long-standing fan theory regarding Aerith's ability to predict events. Aerith's ability to seemingly call Cloud a mercenary and predict other events has puzzled fans. Some believe it could be tied to her ability to sense the spirits of the lifestream. Now, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Twitter account sheds light on this, putting fan theories to rest and adding a layer of sadness to Aerith's character.

Aerith's ability to see into the future has long been a point of contention among fans. Some believe it could be tied to her ability to sense the spirits of the lifestream, while others think it's connected to the events of the game itself, with Aerith possessing memories of events that have not yet occurred.

To be clear, this isn't necessarily a bad theory. Aerith does express her awareness of losing parts of herself when the Whispers touch her. But up until now, this has generally been considered pure speculation. However, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Twitter account confirms that Aerith does, in fact, possess memories that she shouldn't have.

"Aerith has memories and visions from the future that she shouldn't have," Square Enix explains. "The Whispers actively take away these memories from her." So there you have it, Aerith's ability to predict events like calling Cloud a mercenary has been explained.

Of course, this is far from the only unanswered question about Final Fantasy 7 Remake. There are also plenty of unresolved plot points from the original game, like why does Yuffie steal the Materia in the first place? But Final Fantasy 7 Remake's more complex, and more divergent, plot also contributes to confusion, as the game depicts events in a way that differs from the original game.

For example, in the original game, the party discovers the Ancient City of the Ancients before the events at Mt. Nibel, while in Remake, the party discovers the city after the events at Mt. Nibel. So while Aerith knowing Cloud's Buster Sword may seem confusing in the original game, it actually makes sense in Remake.

So, there you have it, Aerith's ability to see into the future, and her relationship with the Whispers, has officially been confirmed by Square Enix. While some may still be skeptical about the game's depiction of Aerith's ability, the confirmation does offer a lot of clarity and adds a layer of sadness to her character.
