The highly anticipated Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is set to arrive in a few months, with fans generally giving the footage so far a thumbs up. But one thing that hasn’t been well received is the fact that all of the animatronics sport those glaring red eyes.
While the movie seems to stay true to the games in most regards, the eyes seem to be the one thing that got an overhaul, with nothing said regarding their appearance in the film. Well, it looks like we’ll find out the reason behind them after all, as a crew member has shared a comment on Instagram that seems to confirm they’re part of the film’s plot.
“#maketheireyeswhiteagain,” a fan comments on one of Garin W. Sparks’ (a makeup artist on the film) recent posts. Sparks’ response? “watch the movie, it’s explained!!!”
This isn’t the first time that Sparks has subtly hinted at an explanation for the red eyes; back in April he also said “just wait,” regarding the topic.
While some fans may be disappointed that the red eyes aren’t a stylistic choice, and serve an actual purpose in the movie’s storyline, it does at least offer some closure.
We’ll have to wait for the movie’s release to find out if the explanation satisfies our curiosity – for now, the red eyes controversy seems to be dead and buried.
