Vampire Survivors Unity release date announced

Vampire Survivors FPS is set to receive a major boost as the new engine finally gets a release date, and the community’s feedback is overwhelmingly positive after trying out the beta. The FPS game, known for its lightly-animated sprites on a 2D plane, can sometimes experience performance issues as rounds progress, but the switch to Unity, the engine already used on mobile and Xbox, is set to remedy this.

The release date for Vampire Survivors Unity comes after some players reported bugs during the engine’s beta access period, but Poncle says these have been resolved and the final release is “perfect.” The developer also says that the new engine has been thoroughly tested and runs better than the old one.

“I’ve been testing it for a while now, and it runs better than the current version of the game,” Poncle says. “It is completely stable. The animations are smoother and less laggy. It’s built for speed and stability.”

The Unity version has been available as a Steam beta for some time, with overwhelmingly positive feedback coming from those who have tried it. One Reddit user, Zealousideal-Try4666, says the new engine is “amazing” and that the game runs “perfectly and flawlessly” even with hundreds of levels on limit break.

“Everything is extremely responsive,” they say. “Frame drops are nonexistent. Everything is just perfect.” Another user, Oddworld19, says their performance improved significantly, going from “5-8 frames” on their Steam Deck to a locked 60 FPS.

While the new engine isn’t infallible – some players still experience slowdowns under certain conditions – the overall feedback has been extremely positive. Poncle says that some bugs were reported during the engine’s beta access period, but that they have been fixed and players should not experience any issues with the final release.

The anticipation for the Vampire Survivors engine switch has generated much more positive feedback than negative, highlighting how the game’s transition to Unity is likely to enhance its performance and overall gaming experience.

Vampire Survivors is one of the best games on the Steam Deck by virtue of being one of the few that support the handheld. With the release date finally set, players can look forward to enjoying a “completely different game” with enhanced visuals and performance.
