A top Hades player beats their own high score, completing a near-impossible 64 Heat run in the process, becoming the first person to do so in the Hades roguelike game. Hades players are still coming to terms with the incredible accomplishment, as Heat level 64 was previously thought to be nearly impossible. The player, who goes by Hades Arena account Hades Arena, also becomes the first person to truly finish Hades, as their previous best was Heat level 63 with the Shield of Chaos.

Hades, for those who are unfamiliar, is a roguelike game in which players attempt to complete increasingly difficult challenges. The player’s goal is to reach the final floor of the Hades tower, but to do so the player must complete Heat levels. Heat is a mechanic in Hades that increases difficulty and rewards in subsequent playthroughs.

Players had previously managed to beat Heat level 63, but level 64 seemed insurmountable, at least until now. In a video highlighting the extreme difficulty of Heat level 64 in Hades, top Hades player Haelian runs the level only to die a few rooms in. Another Hades YouTuber, Angel1C, also known as Jade on YouTube, makes a video highlighting their own attempts at the challenge. It is completed, however, by the player who goes by Hades Arena, in just half an hour.

This isn’t the first time that Hades Arena has completed a difficult challenge in Hades, as they are also the first person to reach Heat level 63 with the Shield of Chaos. Still, even considering their prior accomplishments, this run is impressive, as it doesn’t use specific powerups, items, or game modifications that many players rely on.

This achievement by Hades Arena makes them the first person to truly finish Hades, and the video of the run showcases just how intense the roguelike game can be, especially on such a difficult level. Despite the player’s luck with pickups and room layouts, the player does not use any game modifications to aid them.

Hades Arena jokingly refers to themselves as a “fucking legend” in the video, and the community certainly seems to think so, as a Hades Heat level 65 starts to seem increasingly likely.

If you want to take a look at what the challenge entails, you can check out the video below. It’s a level that many thought couldn’t be done, which makes the accomplishment all the more impressive.

If you want to play Hades yourself, you can get it on PC (with all the best mods, of course), or on Nintendo Switch.
