A League of Legends developer has taken to Reddit to explain why they believe Naafiri is the ideal champion for players wanting to learn how to play assassins in the MOBA. With the latest addition to the League of Legends roster now available on the Public Beta Environment (PBE), the Rioter behind the champion has taken the chance to explain her design and why she represents the perfect learning tool for aspiring assassins.

“Her abilities were designed to do exactly that,” the developer continues. “They each focus on a different aspect of assassin gameplay and how to master the art of playing them effectively.” The skill set includes abilities that focus on stealth, burst damage, and mobility, all key aspects of assassin gameplay that players can learn through Naafiri.
“By playing as Naafiri, you’ll be able to learn how to effectively engage and eliminate targets while minimizing the risk of being caught or killed yourself,” the developer goes on to explain. “Her gameplay mechanics are there to teach you the importance of map awareness and positioning, crucial skills for successful assassins.”
“Her skill interactions are a great way to learn how to move around the map and set up ganks, as well as how to kite and outplay opponents,” the Rioter continues, highlighting the importance of her abilities, particularly her ultimate, “Shadow Strike.” This ability allows players to teleport behind enemy champions, providing a perfect opportunity to practice surprise attacks and quick bursts of damage.
The developer also touches on the importance of Naafiri’s lore and character design to her suitability as a learning assassin. “By experiencing her story and embodying her character, we hope you’ll be inspired to improve your skills and embrace the assassin playstyle,” they explain.
“If you’re more of a learned player, playing against her can also be a valuable learning experience,” the developer continues. “You’ll be able to gain insights into her strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to develop strategies to outplay assassins in future matches.”
Ultimately, the Rioter concludes that by playing as Naafiri, “you’ll be able to learn how to become a better Assassin in the most efficient way possible – through practice, practice, and more practice.”
