When the developers behind League of Legends reveal scrapped ideas, you better believe we’re going to write about them. In a recent Reddit post, Riot Games shares some of the unique League of Legends Arena augments that didn’t make it into the final game mode. While some of them are simply too strong, others had to be cut due to technical limitations, but they’re all neat ways to spice up the action RTS game.

Scrapped Augment Ideas

Most of the revealed augment ideas are simply too strong, like the “Mega Minion” augment that would have allowed you to control a super-sized minion in the game. Another augment, “Fortify,” would give you an additional life, providing you a second chance during gameplay.

Another set of revealed augments is simply too much for the game to handle. The “Telekinetic Grasp” augment would have allowed you to move and manipulate objects on the map, which would be a bit too chaotic.

However, despite the above reasons why these augments didn’t make it into the live game, it’s still neat to see them, especially since they offer a glimpse into the creative process behind LoL Arena.

“We had a lot of fun brainstorming and experimenting with these ideas, even if they didn’t ultimately make the cut,” the developers write. “For us, it’s always important to get ideas on paper and share them with you guys, even if they aren’t fully formed enough to ship.”

The post sparked a lot of discussion among players, with some expressing disappointment that these augments didn’t make it into the game, while others understand the developers’ need to balance the gameplay and ensure a fair experience for all players.

“I understand that you want to make this a competitive game mode and not just a casual fun mode but… these augments seem extremely fun,” writes Reddit user ‘T1N1T2T3’, who explains that they are a “hardcore competitive player” but also loves the idea of unique augments and other fun features in LoL Arena.

“We’re reading every single comment and responding where we can,” the post authors reply. “We’ll continue to iterate and improve the mode based on your input, but we’re also excited to share some of the ideas we have cooking up to surprise you guys!”

The post also includes a link to a survey where you can share your thoughts and suggestions for future augments or even potential improvements to LoL Arena.

With the reveal of these discarded augment ideas, it’s clear that they’ve generated a lot of excitement and curiosity among the League of Legends community. We can’t wait to see what other unique features and gameplay mechanics Riot Games has in store for future updates of LoL Arena.

The developers’ transparency and willingness to engage with the community through Reddit is another reminder of why League of Legends is such a great game – not only does it offer high-quality gameplay, but it also fosters a community of gamers who are passionate about the game and want to see it get better.
