A prisoner with a Nintendo 64 and CRT in their cell is making waves on social media and among the gaming community. The setup, which one Redditor describes as giving them a “rush of nostalgia,” is admittedly pretty cool. But if you’re in prison, you’re probably the boss, right?
“I’m in prison and I have a Nintendo 64,” the Reddit user captioned a picture of the setup, which has since gone viral on Twitter as well. “Wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
“You’re the boss,” one replies. “You can have whatever you want in there.”
“You don’t even have to be in a high position,” another jokes.
For those unfamiliar with prison culture, having any kind of TV in your cell is usually a sign of some level of importance, but the commenters seem to be more focused on the gaming aspect. They praise the person for their taste in games, and some even express excitement at the existence of a second version of the game they’re playing.
“That game is awesome,” one replies. “And you can even go to space.”
“I respect the people who use one hand,” another says of the modified controller. “This controller is the beauty.”
The specific controller the user mentions is the Retro Fighters Next Gen Nintendo 64 Controller Brawler64 Gamepad Transparent Blue, though some in the comments debate whether it’s actually a Hori controller.
No one in the thread seems to care about the game itself, but the nostalgia is strong. “I forgot about this game until I saw this,” one replies. Another says, “I didn’t know about Snowboard Kids 2 until I rented it and never owned it.”
