Originally tested during the Overwatch 2 Open Seasons, Hero Mastery Missions are finally here to stay with Season 6. These new missions are designed to help new players learn and improve their skills with different heroes, providing them with a structured path to follow.
Available for all heroes in the game, these missions aim to provide you with a more rewarding and engaging experience if you're struggling to improve your skills with specific heroes. Each hero's missions will be slightly different based on the hero, with each having their own unique challenges to complete.
Overwatch 2 Hero Mastery missions release date
The official release date for Overwatch 2's Hero Mastery missions has not been officially announced yet, but we do know that they'll be introduced in the upcoming Season 6. Blizzard stated that the release date for Hero Mastery missions "isn't far off" in a recent State of the Game stream, suggesting that we'll see these missions starting sometime in Season 6.
While you wait for the Overwatch 2 Hero Mastery missions to arrive, you can still try and level up your favorite heroes in competitive Overwatch; unless you're a specialist in your chosen hero, getting your rank up can be a bit of a grind.
Reaching new heights with one of the many Overwatch 2 heroes will see you unlock unique rewards and cosmetics, meaning there's even more incentive to excel with your chosen hero. You can also complete these challenges in multiplayer modes outside of Quick Play, meaning you can earn rewards even if you're not climbing the competitive ladder.

In the official announcement, Blizzard mentioned that Reinhardt's Hero Mastery missions will require you to use "Barrier Field for a combined total of 50,000 damage blocked across Competitive and Quick Play game modes."
