Ana 'Peacekeeper' Skin in Overwatch 2 Draws Criticism

An Overwatch 2 player has discovered what they feel is a “lazy” new Ana skin in the FPS game, and the community is not happy about it. After taking a closer look at the new skin and comparing it to an older one, players are accusing Blizzard of reusing assets to create the new look, and expressing their disappointment over what they see as a lack of effort.

The Ana skin in question is ‘Peacekeeper,’ and it’s the character’s first “prime” skin. The Overwatch 2 player who discovered the issue, ‘zabreezy,’ believes that the skin’s first-person view is exactly the same as an older skin, ‘Tranquil.’

“I really don’t think this is a new skin,” zabreezy says, “because the first-person view is the same as Tranquil.” They then go on to point out that the assets used in Peacekeeper’s design are also the same as those in Tranquil, and that the skin is therefore a copy of an earlier one.

The video is captioned “lazy skin,” and the accusation of laziness stems from the feeling that Blizzard took a shortcut in creating the new skin, by simply copying and pasting assets from the earlier design.

The similarity is definitely there, but whether it’s actually a sign of laziness on Blizzard’s part is up for debate, and the community certainly isn’t holding back.

“I cannot believe Blizzard actually did this,” one player says. “This is so lazy,” another adds, with many describing the skin as “disappointing” and “uninspired.”

The accusation of laziness stems from the feeling that Blizzard did not put enough effort into the new skin’s design, and simply re-used assets rather than creating something new.

Personally, I don’t think this is a bad-looking skin, but it’s not unique, and that’s what you should expect from Blizzard. There are plenty of Overwatch 2 skins that are nearly identical to others, but the difference is that they were never the same skin to begin with. If Peacekeeper isn’t a unique design, then it should be a fresh and unique take on the original Tranquil skin.

Players are also frustrated by the lack of creativity in general in the game. “Blizzard used to do such good work in this game, but now it’s just a dumpster fire of lazy skins and boring cosmetics,” one player says, echoing the overall sentiment.

Overwatch 2 continues to be one of the most popular games of all time, despite a seemingly endless series of controversies ranging from racism to transphobia. Despite the negative press, players continue to support the game and look forward to future updates.
