How to Create a Route in Pokemon Go
Routes are a new feature in Pokemon Go. To create one, head to the menu by tapping the menu icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. From here, select the Routes tab. This will show you a map with all of the Routes you’ve discovered so far.
To create your own Route, first, you’ll need to find a suitable starting point on the map. As you move around the world, you’ll see different colored markers in various locations. These are possible starting points for your Route.
Once you’ve chosen a starting point, you can begin to draw your Route. To do this, simply select different waypoints along your path. You can adjust the shape and size of each waypoint, as well as its position on the map.
It’s worth noting that you can’t overlap Routes with each other, so you’ll need to plan your paths accordingly. When you’re happy with your Route, you can give it a title and description to give your path a bit of personality.

Once you’re happy with your Route, you can publish it for everyone to see. Simply select the ‘Publish’ button at the top of the screen and you’re good to go.
Exploring Routes in Pokemon Go
Publishing your Route doesn’t mean you have to stop there though. Once your Route is live, you can follow it, or follow someone else’s. This comes with its own set of bonuses and rewards. If you’ve created a popular Route, you’ll even earn experience points for your hard work.
Completing Routes also earns you in-game rewards. There are a number of items you can earn along the way, such as Revives, Max Potions, and Incense. You can also earn Pokemon encounters, which may include some rare, shiny Pokemon. The more Routes you complete, the higher your Route Explorer level will become, unlocking even more bonuses and exclusive rewards.
Blaze New Trails Event
The Pokemon Go Blaze New Trails event celebrates the introduction of Routes, encouraging players to get out and discover these new features in the game. The event is split into two phases. In the first, players will be tasked with completing any Route, either their own or a recommended one. In phase two, players will be encouraged to complete a Route within a certain time limit, or face the risk of missing out on the rewards.
This event will also feature special challenges and activities related to Routes. While we don’t yet know all of the details, it seems likely that players will be rewarded for completing specific Route-related challenges during the event.
