A Dad Lets His Three-Year-Old Son Take Control of the Family Account in Pokemon Go
In 2016, Pokemon Go took the world by storm, captivating players of all ages as they embarked on a quest to catch Pokemon. The game's popularity eventually waned, but one dad found himself drawn back into the world of Pokemon Go when his three-year-old son developed an interest in the game.
It all started when the young boy began watching Pokemon Violet and receiving Pokemon plush toys as gifts. Enchanted by his son's joy, the dad decided to introduce him to Pokemon Go, handing over control of their family account to the budding Pokemon trainer.
Living in a city, the dad initially thought his son would miss out on the thrill of finding wild Pokemon in their natural habitat. However, he soon discovered that Pokemon Go, a game that brings Pokemon into the real world, was the perfect game to play with his son outside the house.
The duo embarked on their Pokemon journey, heading to the park opposite their house. The excitement of discovering new Pokemon was palpable, with the dad capturing the pure joy of encountering Pokemon like Pancham and Spearow for the first time.
Handing over control of the Pokemon Go account to his young son was initially daunting for the dad, but he quickly fell in love with the game all over again. Each new Pokemon his son found brought excitement and joy, and they would frequently squeal with delight as he caught them.
While the dad took on the role of collecting items from PokeStops and completing research tasks for his son, he always made sure that his son had a steady supply of items waiting for him when he played. This act of selflessness demonstrated a parent's willingness to let their child take charge of their own virtual world, making the experience all about the child.
The dad couldn't help but wonder what would happen if his son's interest in the game outlasted his own. Would his son eventually want his own account? Would the dad continue to watch him play?
As the dad reflected on his son's Pokemon journey, he expressed the hope that he would still be able to support him, even if his son desired more independence as he grew older.
The dad's love for Pokemon Go was reignited through his son's enthusiasm and delight in catching Pokemon. Their experience together reminded them both of the sense of wonder and discovery that comes with finding new Pokemon and the simple pleasures of playing a game side by side.
